[NEWS/VIDEO] Raised $1.8M for Oil Spill Relief

Zimbio: The stars were out last night for a good cause: The Gulf Coast relief telethon. The event was orchestrated by Larry King, and aired on CNN. Celebs were on-hand to answer calls from people wanting to donate to help those impacted by the oil spill, and their efforts helped bring in $1.8 million!

Stars like Ke$ha, Alyssa Milano, and Pete Wentz spent their evening with phones and computers close by, and it sounds like it was quite a busy, emotional evening. “People are crying on the phone and giving money,” said singer and New Orleans native Aaron Neville (via PopEater).

“Everyone’s really pissed off,” said Jenny McCarthy, who helped Ryan Seacrest monitor tweets in the “Tweet Suite.”

Justin Bieber pre-recorded a statement, which aired on TV during the event. He said: “The oil disaster in the Gulf has been a big problem, but every little bit can help. There’s no such thing as being too young to pitch in, and this is urgent. What we do now can affect our future. You can donate money or time or anything to the groups you’ve heard about on this show.”
